RataNews.id is a cyber media platform designed as a trusted information hub, covering channels from crime and politics to regional issues such as Medan and Deli Serdang. This project was built to address the need for rapid news consumption while maintaining content integrity, ensuring every article is optimally presented for both human readers and search engine crawlers.
Challenge Faced
The primary challenge of this project was transforming a CMS-based platform to avoid feeling "heavy" and cluttered. In the world of local news portals, site speed is often sacrificed for intrusive ads or unnecessary features. Furthermore, ensuring aggressive SEO indexing for real-time appearance in Google News presented a technical hurdle that required a robust and solid infrastructure to overcome.
Results and Impact:
I implemented a lightweight theme architecture with focused optimizations on rendering and database management. Through advanced caching integration and CDN (Content Delivery Network) configuration, RataNews can stably handle traffic spikes. I also applied precise automated metadata schemes to bolster article visibility on search engines, effectively bridging the gap between editorial publication speed and Google’s algorithmic indexing speed.
